Commercial test and tag services
Portable electrical equipment testing for workplaces across Bunbury and the South West, including offices, shops, workshops, warehouses, building sites, schools and hospitality venues. We handle one-off jobs and regular repeat testing.
Why workplaces test and tag
Under Western Australia’s work health and safety laws, businesses must manage the risks that come with electrical equipment used at work. Regular inspection and testing of portable equipment is one of the main ways workplaces do this, and in some higher-risk environments, such as construction sites and places where equipment is exposed to moisture, heat, vibration or damage, it’s required.
The Australian Standard AS/NZS 3760, In-service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment, describes how inspection and testing is done and recommends testing intervals for different environments.
Your obligations depend on your industry and how your equipment is used. For official guidance, see WorkSafe WA, or ask us about your workplace.
What you get from each visit
- Visual inspection of every portable item
- Electrical testing with a portable appliance tester

Workplaces we test and tag for
Each type of workplace has different equipment and testing needs. These are the workplaces we commonly help.
Offices and professional services
Computers, monitors, chargers, printers, power boards and kitchen appliances. We can plan testing around times when staff aren’t using their computers.
Workshops and trades
Power tools, extension leads, battery chargers and bench equipment that get heavy use and need regular checks.
Warehouses and industrial sites
Leads, fans, heaters, chargers and office equipment spread across large sites. Testing can be done one area at a time.
Construction companies
Tools and leads used on building sites are tested more often than equipment in most other workplaces.
Schools and education
Classroom, staffroom, library and administration equipment, scheduled around the school timetable where needed.
Hospitality and accommodation
Commercial kitchen appliances, bar equipment, and appliances supplied in guest rooms and shared areas.
Retail
Point-of-sale equipment, display lighting, heaters and staff-room appliances.
Property managers
Portable equipment supplied in commercial or managed properties, with testing arranged directly with you.
Other organisations
If your organisation uses portable electrical equipment, get in touch to talk about what you need.
Repeat testing and larger sites
Test and tag isn’t a one-off job. Equipment needs retesting at regular intervals, and how often depends on where it’s used. Recommended intervals range from every three months for construction tools to longer cycles for equipment in low-risk areas.
For businesses that need ongoing testing, we can:
- Plan your next visit around when your tags are due
- Test larger sites area by area to limit disruption
- Cover several sites or properties in one booking
- Keep your records consistent from one visit to the next
Getting a quote
To get an accurate quote, tell us:
- Your workplace location
- The type of workplace

Preparing for your test and tag visit
A little preparation helps the visit run smoothly:
- Gather portable items that are usually stored away, such as spare leads, heaters, fans and tools
- Ask staff to leave laptop chargers and other personal work equipment on site
- Let us know about any equipment that can’t be switched off, so we can plan a suitable time
- Arrange access to every area that needs testing
